Finding classroom success in noisy mix of Spanish, English
Sat Sep 22, 2012
You don't know anything about this town, or the location of the school. The city of Baldwin Park is 80% Hispanic, 14% Asian, and 4% White. The fact that you think they would abandon English speakers is laughable and short-sighted. Your name-calling is offensive as well in our melting-pot nation, alt …
Banksy paints L.A.
Fri Feb 18, 2011
I find Banksy entertaining and most of his art is enjoyable and thought-provoking. The film is quite good and actually made in two parts: part 1 is about a Frenchman filming Banksy and others at work (with no intention of making a film, while telling them that he was) and part 2 is Banksy filming th …
Beatles are on iTunes today
Mon Nov 15, 2010
It's so sad that even though they had to fight in court over the name Apple, Sir Paul has selected them as an exclusive electronic distributor. Apple once again uses monopolistic practices to inhibit competition. I guess I'll have to buy CDs and rip, although many people will use this as another exc …
Report: Mass graves discovered on Iwo Jima
Fri Oct 22, 2010
I think the point is that a racist tirade against someone else's wartime practices is reasonable if you find a grave with YOUR soldiers in it. If this turns out to be a mass grave that was created by American forces, then your speech becomes ironic (yet still racist).
Oh, 180-day-old Happy Meal, why won't you rot?
Thu Oct 14, 2010
This such a crock (no pun intended - look up Ray Croc if you don't get it); once the moisture evaporates from something there is no possibility of mold growth. It's a science that the Egyptians knew and used during mumification. Some people apparently have still not learned this one. As for the frie …
Should Florida outlaw cars on beaches after recent deaths of children?
Sat Sep 18, 2010
This seems dangerous & messy. Do they clean up fluids that drip from the cars? Make separate areas for people and cars, at least!
'True Blood' says adios to Sookie in finale
Mon Sep 13, 2010
The Queen has been a major letdown for me; she was intriguing at first, but never did much of interest. The witch storyline is looking interesting, but I don't know if the writers are going to surprise anyone if Sookie and Bill yo-yo any more. The Talbot disposal seemed too out-of-character; I didn …
Should off-field conduct be part of the NFL's Hall of Fame criteria?
Mon Aug 2, 2010
Would this be retroactively applied to previous inductees? This stinks of the same manipulation that baseball is using against Pete Rose.
Should FIFA use instant replay at the World Cup?
Sun Jun 27, 2010
Is there a valid reason not to use instant replay? 30 seconds to see if a ball crossed a line or hand was used illegally is insignifecant.
